Summer 2012

PCL needs your help to assist in the purchase of a new vehicle this year to ensure that those we support can stay safe on the road this summer. We know we can count on our donors to help with this need.

Parents for Community Living is excited to share that we have purchased a bungalow in Waterloo for 4-5 of those we currently support who are aging. PCL will be selling one of its two story homes to facilitate this purchase. The Ministry of Community and Social Services has provided capital funds to assist with the purchase of this new home and, as I write this letter, renovations are underway to make this home fully accessible and fire safe. PCL is also able to support 3 new people from the community with this initiative!

Summer holidays are often full of adventurous vacations and day trips. This is certainly true for those we support in each of our homes. This year some of the travelling activities include trips to Port Elgin, Paisley for the Christian Horizons camps, Blue Jays games in Toronto, Niagara Falls, African Lion Safari, the Toronto Zoo and a trip to see West Side Story in Toronto to name but a few. Each of these trips requires the use of one of our vans to transport those we support to these various outings and adventures. To that end, we require reliable vehicles to ensure that the trips are safe. Parents for Community Living have three vehicles which will need to be replaced in the near future due to age and wear and tear.

I hope that your summer is a time of refreshment and that you are able to spend time with your loved ones. I also hope that you feel appreciated...I am so thankful for you and for what you do to ensure that PCL is always able to help those that need our support.
